Leona Christina Aversano, 86, passed away Friday August 3, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born to Stanley and Palma Worden in Portsmouth, NH on December 18, 1925. She married Joseph Aversano May 13, 1944 in Fort Monroe, VA. They later divorced. They had two children Paul and Palma. Survivors include son Paul and spouse Terry Aversano, Farmingdale, NY and daughter Pam Aversano of the home. Two grandchildren Bree and husband Gary Turturro and Joseph Aversano. Sisters Lucille Watts and Sandee and husband Bill Brannelly. She was preceded in death by sister Betty Kelly. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday August 7th at the Chapel Oaks-Lawrence Funeral Chapel where the rosary being said at 7 PM. Memorial Mass will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 8 at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at Stony Point Cemetery.
